California Biennial ’08
High Desert Test Sites
Who loved school field trips? I was never a big fan of them, though getting out of class for a day was always a plus. However, field trips while an undergrad is usually a bit of a different story. In 2008 I was attending the University of Southern California, and for a class, we could go on a weekend-long field trip to Joshua Tree, CA and help out with the California Biennial, room, and transport was paid for, all you had to worry about was food. So I thought why not? I had never been to Joshua Tree and earning extra credit was the kind of nerdy thing that I liked to do.
Over those 48 hours, I fell in love with Joshua Tree, and had such a great time out in the desert, seeing some fantastic art and helping to make sure that some of it went off without a hitch, and get to experience more of the American Southwest.
I mean how often do you get to see a Lion Man vacuum a carpet in the middle of a dried lake bed?
These are a collection of some of the candid photographs that I took while I was away on that field trip into the desert.
