The Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows
Solution – This was a personal project for me; I fell for the words that Mr. Koenig had created and wanted to take them off the screen, as they only lived online and make them a tangible object that would hopefully become just as valuable to me as the words themselves had become. The first hurdle of this project was trying to think of a way that it could be expanded upon as more words were created/added. What I ended up deciding on doing was to create the book in volumes. Each would have the same number of words but as new words came out new books would be made. So volume one was born.
To add heft to the book, and to make it feel like an old dictionary each word was given its own spread, and then each page was french folded to add depth and weight to the book. The cover has black text on black paper to make the title a bit more obscured as well as a tracing paper dust jacket that added a bit of obscurity to the title printed on the front of the book.
