AVENUE Q

Problem – Create visually exciting graphics to be used as the interactive set through a projection for Edinburgh University Savoy Opera Group’s production of Avenue Q.

Solution – After an initial meeting with the Director of the show, to get an idea of what he was looking for the show to look like, I started sketching set ideas and rough building shapes. Using Sesame Street as an inspiration, as well as the Simpsons, I created the scenes out of digital construction paper and then layered them on top of each other to give the desired look. Not wanting to detract from the actors/puppets on stage in front of the projection the use of simple colors and the construction paper technique helped to create the set without overpowering the scene.
